NEIGHBOURHOOD COMMUNITY SAFETY SERVICE SURGERY

The Neighbourhood Community Safety Service has been set up to help provide assistance to residents by working with other agencies and partners in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.

 

To help facilitate this we are holding surgeries in the Ringway Centre on the last Tuesday of every month. At these sessions residents, businesses and any other concerned parties will be able to discuss issues about anti-social behaviour, crime and any other concerns they might have. The Neighbourhood Community Safety staff will then liaise with appropriate agencies and establish a course of action to address any issue accordingly.

Come and join us for the launch of the Tutu Peace Trail in Grove Park.  The trail is part of the Nationwide Discovering Places weekend, part of the cultural Olympiad.

We meet at Grove Park Station for a two mile circular walk, mostly on flat surfaces.  Informative talks and a quiz about the trail will take place, finishing off with light refreshements.

The event is free, you do not need to book.

45TH ANNUAL FLOWER, FRUIT & VEGETABLE SHOW

 Apart from the usual sections of Flowers (Annuals, Dahlias, Gladioli, Roses, Asters, Michaelmas Daisies), Plants (Pot Plants/Cactus or Succulent/Patio Planter), Fruit and Vegetables (Apples, Berries, Tomatoes, Runner Beans, Carrots, Marrow, Potatoes, Salad Produce), we have a Domestic Section (Chutney, Fruit Jelly, Marmalade, Butterscotch Brownies, Sandwich Cake, Gingernut Biscuits, White Bread Loaf); a Creative Arts Section (Creative Hobbies, Handicrafts and Painting/Drawing); a Photography Section covering the subjects of "Human Interest" (e.g. a person doing something), "Architecture" (e.g. buildings), "Landscape" and "Animal(s); and a Floral Arrangement Section.

 

The Junior Section includes a decorated egg (hard-boiled), a painting, drawing or handicraft, a fresh flower arrangement, butterfly cakes and gingerbread man.

 

This is purely an amateur FUN competition and the committee hopes the schedule will appeal to all and that you will give us your support with as many entries as possible.

A wide variety of both house and garden plants will be on sale.  Most of the plants have been carefully grown from seed and are ready for transplanting into the garden.  In addition to the plants there are also various other stalls selling cakes, jams and bric-a-brac. It's a great opportunity to pick up some bargains as well as prepare for our Fruit, Flower and Vegetable show later in the year.

 

This year we shall be offering jacket potatoes with various fillings, so please come hungry!  There will be a Fancy Dress Competition and our Community Police will be there to security mark your small personal items (mobile phones, cameras, etc.)
